Perfectly still, they stood in dark clothes
with smiles on their faces greeting friends.
So many people, so many tears shed
for the once trim, vivacious, spirited woman
whose last breath was only a whisper.
They all offered sympathy at this terrible time,
but no one could take away the pain.
She was more than a wife and a mother and friend.
She was life at it’s fullest with wit and charm to match.
Quick with a comeback, quick with a joke,
quick with her opinion, too!
Yes, her loss would be felt by a great many friend,
but none would feel it as much as her own.
Her daughter, so close, felt the heartache the most
As if her heart was torn to shreds.
How would she manage without mom to go to?
With the help her family and of each of her friends,
She would learn to live anew,
But it would not be the same.
Nothing and no one can make you ready.
No one can really take away all that pain.
They say time heals all wounds.
This pain is still there every day, all the time.
Love you mom to the moon and beyond.
You will always be with me, in my heart,
In my soul, in what I say and what I do.
